Gala have continued their acquisition strategy in 2005 by adding an interactive games channel, dubbed Gala TV, to it's ever expanding portfolio. Subscribers will be able to play Gala-branded bingo and other games using the red button on their remote control. Gala Group's chief executive Neil Goulden said: "We are delighted to be entering the dynamic world of interactive television and this project will form a key part of Gala's expanding multi-media strategy. Gala is buying the Avago gaming channel from YooMedia, which is broadcast on Sky Digital channel 181 and will be launched on NTL cable early next year. While the channel is free, viewers must register to play the games. Alternatively players can still join in the fun at Gala Bingo online.
This is a wise move for Gala who now hope to cash in on the expanding growth of interactive TV and the online boom in bingo and other cash games. It will also enable Gala to reach players outside the traditional bingo clubs and casinos. Combined with the recent acquisition of Coral and a potential flotation in the future, the future is looking bright for Gala.
