St Minver, the bingo company behind the likes of Chit Chat Bingo, Butlins Bingo and Vigin Bingo has uncovered that men are disguising their real identities when playing online bingo by using female aliases. Zoë, Alexis and Rachel are just some of the most popular usernames used by men! So what is going on? When asked why they felt it necessary to change their gender and username, many of the guys indicated that they were concerned that people would make fun of them for playing bingo as they perceived it as a game for the ladies. By having a more acceptable username made it easier for them to fit in and play bingo online.
However there are some "real" men who play bingo and who are happy to have masculine usernames. St Minver also found that the guys believe that by using high profile casino film characters and actors names will bring them luck. Luckyjackson, Bond007 and Damon are some of the most common casino related names used on their gaming sites.
And luck was definitely with the men last week! The St Minver network’s Giant Jackpot reached its highest amount to date at £27,438.83 and was won on a £6 stake by a 30 year old man from the Channel Islands, who had only been playing online Bingo for a month. So remember men can play (and win) online bingo too - it's not just for girls!
