Play Battleships With Sun Bingo (January 2008)We thought we'd seen it all in the bingo world - 75 ball, 80 ball, 90 ball, Price is Right, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, but the good old Sun Bingo have blown all that out of the water - quite literally - with their new Battleships game. It combines the game Battleships (naturally) with bingo! Unlike bingo though you get to place the ships on your Battleships bingo card. Co-ordinates are then called (bingo calls) until someone sinks all the enemy ships. It's £1 a game and the prize depends on the number of people playing (it was around £80 when we checked in). There's also a jackpot of £500 if you win in 28 calls or less.
So is it any good? We're all for new ways to enjoy bingo, but after just two games of hearing the plummy British commander bingo caller and the sound of missiles being launched into the bingo card it did get quite annoying. However, The Sun Bingo have shown that bingo doesn't just have to be the traditional game format, and we fully expect that similar games will be unveiled in the near future.
